About Me
Hi! My name is Jihan. I am a relatively new hiker currently based in Ithaca, New York, where I am studying atmospheric science at Cornell University, who specializes in making dumb decisions. I embarked on my first major dumb decision in fall 2019 when I attempted Guadalupe Peak in Texas with no previous hiking experience. Since then, dumb decisions have taken me to the summits of all 48 New Hampshire 4,000ers (10 of them in winter), 1 of the 46 Adirondack High Peaks, a smattering of state highpoints across the U.S., 1 Colorado 14er with the 3,000-ft rule, among others. I have been blogging my hikes since 2021, which was incidentally the same year I began hiking semi-regularly.
After finishing the New Hampshire 48 in 2024, my next goal is to finish the Adirondack 46 during my time at Cornell. After that, I have broad plans to finish up the Vermont and Maine 4,000-footers and simultaneously complete both the New England 67 and Northeast 115.
Contrary to what some might think, I do in fact have a life outside of peakbagging! When I'm not hiking or partaking in capitalism, I enjoy cycling, gymnastics, and photography. One of my other interests is the weather, and I'm both a SKYWARN spotter for my local NWS office and an observer for the independent CoCoRaHS program. If I'm not doing any of these, you can probably find me either hanging with friends or spoiling my cat.
